Global Terrorism Index

The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland is responsible for the annual release of the Global Terrorism Database, which contains over 170,000 terrorist incidents committed from 1970 to 2019. Terrorism is defined as the “threatened or actual use of illegal force and violence by a non‐state actor to attain a political, economic, religious, or social goal through fear, coercion, or intimidation.
